How It All Began – A Personal Story from the Heart

In a time when so many people from Nepal are leaving the country in search of opportunities abroad, my husband and I made a different choice—we chose to stay.

We both used to work at a well-known handicraft company in Nepal, but it was far from our home. Every day felt like a rush—long commutes, demanding schedules, and very little time for family. When I became a mother, things changed even more. My child needed me, and deep inside, I wanted to be there for every moment.

But I also wanted to help provide for our family.

I kept thinking:
“If I’m struggling like this, how many other women must be going through the same?”

That thought wouldn’t leave me.

So, with my husband by my side, we decided to take a bold step. We left our jobs and started Sagarmatha Felt Creation right here in our own community. Our dream was to build something meaningful—not just for ourselves, but for the women around us.

We envisioned a place where women—mothers, sisters, daughters—could earn a living with dignity while still being present for their families.

Today, that dream is alive.

We are proud to say that over 100 local women artisans are now part of our family. Some work at our workspace, while many others work from home—felting, stitching, and crafting while caring for their babies and households. We provide the training, materials, and full support. They bring their heart, hands, and heritage.

Each product they create carries not just beauty but a story of strength and transformation.

By staying in Nepal, we’re not just raising our child and running a business. We’re also helping to preserve traditional skills, create rural employment, and support the export economy of our beautiful country. Handicrafts play a vital role in Nepal’s identity and economy, and we’re honored to be part of that journey.
